FAQ
Got questions? Please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are hoping to give all of you lots of notice for our celebration so you can plan accordingly. Montana has a lot of adventure to offer, so please let us know if we can help you plan in any way.
Where should I stay?
See the accommodations section of this website for ideas of where to stay during your visit.
What will the weather in Montana be like?
There is a saying in Montana that if you don’t like the weather, just wait 5 minutes. We chose a late-July wedding in the hopes of hitting the peak of summer as spring can take a long time to turn in to summer and fall can often make an early appearance with snow and frost as early as late September. That being said, the days in late July near Holland Lake can be in the 80′s with temperatures dropping the 40′s at night after the sun goes down. Best to be prepared with sunscreen and sunglasses during the day with plenty of layers ready for the evening.
What is there to do in Montana?
Besides attending our wedding? Plenty! See the Montana section of this website for ideas to make the most out of your stay in the Big Sky State.
Will my cell phone work in Montana?
Yes! Montana has moved out of the dark ages and has good cell phone reception in populated areas and near major roadways. That being said, cell phone coverage at Holland Lake Lodge is very limited, but a land line is available at a low cost, if need be.
How far from Holland Lake is Glacier? How far is Yellowstone?
The entrance to Glacier National Park is roughly a 90 minute drive to the North of Holland Lake. The northern entrances to Yellowstone National Park are roughly a 5 hour drive to the South-East.
Do I need a permit to fish?
Fishing permits are required. More information can be found here. Want some help with a guided fishing tour? Drive an hour north to beautiful Flathead Lake and get a tour.
What about hunting?
Unfortunately it’s not hunting season in Montana in July.
Do I need to worry about bears?
Holland Lake lodge is in the middle of Grizzly Country. And while they have seen bears on the property at one time or another, they have never had any issues to speak of. If you plan on going hiking, bear spray and common sense is recommended. Be Bear Aware.
What kind of wedding cake will you be serving?
We have not selected a cake vendor just yet. Please stay tuned.
What time time of day will the Welcome Dinner and Ceremony/Reception be happening?
While we still haven’t officially set the schedule for the weekend, we would anticipate the Welcome Dinner would start in the early evening (maybe 6 or 7-ish?) on the 27th and the Ceremony will likely start at about 4 p.m. on the afternoon of the 28th with the cocktail hour and reception immediately following. We will keep you posted when we lock these times, but hopefully this general time-range will assist in planning your travel and other activities for the day(s).
Is internet access available at Holland Lake Lodge?
Yes! Wi-fi is available at the lodge for your laptop or smart phone.
